A Nationally Scarce A moth (Davis, 2012). The earliest Sussex records, in both vice-counties, were made by W.H.B.Fletcher during the final two decades of the 19th century. The species was found to be locally abundant on the Downs near Worthing at Cissbury, on the race-course hills near Brighton at Newmarket and also along sandy lanes near Pulborough at Hurston Warren. The only later record, presumably of larvae, was made in the Lewes district in 1975. The larvae feed on sheep's sorrel and common sorrel elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011)
