Identification difficulty
: 1Species that can be relatively easily identified even by inexperienced recorders with the use of up-to-date field guides. Such records would be accepted without the need for additional evidence as long as they conform to the normal flight period and geographical range of the species.
A resident species generally occurring sparingly at mv light in a wide range of grassy habitats. Often fairly common and occasionally very common at dusk in a few special spots. Thinly distributed throughout, but extremely local and very irregular in any real numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-June to late July. Larvae feed on the roots of various herbaceous plants. (Pratt, 2011)
