First seen in 1859 at Worthing, but not again until 1995 at Ambersham Common and near Horsham in 2008. The single East Sussex specimen was seen in Plashett Wood in 2008. In other counties the insect is single-brooded, flying mainly from July to May, and the larvae feed on oak and dogwood. (Pratt, 2011).
