Early in the 20th century the species was described as "Abundant on the shingles of the coast" at Climping, Eastbourne (on the Crumbles), and at Worthing. Larvae fed on the fruit and stems of orache and adults flew from May to September. More modern records come from adults at mv light at Church Norton in July, 1994, August 1996 and May, 2002. Also seen at Walberton in September, 1998 and August, 2008 (the latter specimen having a plain straw colour) (Pratt, 2011).
