: 1Species that can be relatively easily identified even by inexperienced recorders with the use of up-to-date field guides. Such records would be accepted without the need for additional evidence as long as they conform to the normal flight period and geographical range of the species.
A resident species, often fairly common and sometimes common at mv light in deciduous woods. Very local, distinctly episodic in numbers and missing from central areas of the county for many years. Numbers are increasing though. A single brooded species, mainly flying from late May to mid July. The larvae feed on (pedunculate) oak, sweet chestnut and probably turkey oak. (Pratt, 2011)
