: 1Species that can be relatively easily identified even by inexperienced recorders with the use of up-to-date field guides. Such records would be accepted without the need for additional evidence as long as they conform to the normal flight period and geographical range of the species.
A resident species often fairly common and occasionally very common in deciduous woods, but rare along treeless parts of the coast. Well distributed in large areas. Double-brooded flying mainly from the second week of April to late May and again from the second week of July to the third week of August. Larvae feed on beech. (Pratt, 2011)
