A resident moth which usually occurs singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of habitats but it is sometimes fairly common in the far eastern corner of the county. Widespread but only patchily distributed, and very local and distinctly episodic in any numbers. Chiefly single-brooded, flying from early May to late July. Partial second generations have been recorded in the county. Larval foodplants are garden apple, crab apple, sallow, grey willow, goat willow and lime. (Pratt, 2011)
