Even experienced recorders may be expected to provide additional evidence if the record is outside of the normal flight period or geographical range of the species.
Resident. Occurs sparingly or fairly commonly at mv light in oak woods. Widespread, but any numbers are very local and episodic. Generally double-brooded, flying mainly from early May to mid June and again more numerously from late July to late August. Specimens seen in flight throughout September and a little later seem to be representatives of a third emergence. Adults have been seen in every week from late April to early October. Larvae feed on oak. (Pratt, 2011)
