Common

Resident. Larvae usually occur singly or sparingly in a few locations in both vice counties, but perhaps seriously under-recorded. Double-brooded, flying mainly during May and August, although yet to be confirmed in Sussex. Larvae feed on our native black poplar and its hybrids Italian poplar and probably balsam poplar. (Pratt, 2011)
