Resident. Occurs sparingly at light, but is sometimes fairly common in a wide range of habitats. Widespread, but only patchily distributed. Local in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid May to the third week of September. Larvae are associated with the nests of wild bees and wasps. (Pratt, 2011).
