A resident species usually occurring sparingly at mv light but sometimes fairly common in woods containing mature oak. Episodically common on Ashdown Forest. Widespread across the region but currently completely absent from central parts. Perhaps in decline. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-June to late July. Larvae feed on oak. (Pratt, 2011)
