: 1Species that can be relatively easily identified even by inexperienced recorders with the use of up-to-date field guides. Such records would be accepted without the need for additional evidence as long as they conform to the normal flight period and geographical range of the species.
Resident. Often fairly common, but both larvae and adults are extremely local and sometimes restricted to a single bush of a foodplant. Usually found in allotments, domestic and market gardens, and in garden centres, especially those situated on or near the downs and coast. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to mid July, sometimes to late July. Larvae mine and feed inside the twigs and branches of blackcurrant,red currant and gooseberry; adults have also been associated with josterberry (a blackcurrant and gooseberry cross).
