A resident species on the increase, usually occurring singly or sparingly in deciduous woods chiefly in the north of the region, although sometimes fairly common at mv light at Warnham. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early July to late September, with a few adults surviving hibernation up to mid-January. Larvae feed on (silver) birch. (Pratt, 2011)
