There are only four good records of this proposed Nationally Scarce B moth (Davis, 2012) species in Sussex. The species was first listed by Reverend E.N.Bloomfield, who found it rare at Guestling during the years approaching 1878. The insect was next reported from West Sussex, at Tilgate Forest in about the third quarter of the 20th century. It then turned up at mv light in Rewell Wood, with singletons noted in May 1993 and May 2008 and at Malthouse Wood near Peasmarsh in May 2005. Save that larvae feed inside twigs or birch elsewhere, and aparat from sightings in the Haslemere district, nothing else is know about this species in the county. (Pratt, 2011)
