A resident species usually occurring singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats. Well distributed away from the Downs but irregular in appearance in many places. Single-brooded flying mainly from the second week of July to early November and again after hibernation from early April to June. Larvae feed on oak. (Pratt, 2011)
