Only two colonies of this species have ever been reported, both in the mid 19th century and both in West Sussex. In 1859 H. T. Stainton first listed it from Worthing in his Manual. It was then included in a collation of Brighton Lepidoptera during the following year, a locality on the weald (almost certainly in the Holmbush and Shaves Wood area, near Albourne) being mentioned. Nothing more has been seen of the species here. Elsewhere it is single-brooded, flying from late June into August, and larvae feed on the flowers and seeds of common chickweed and common mouse-ear (Pratt, 2011).
