A resident species usually occurring sparingly, but it is occasionally common or even very common by day on short herb-rich turf situated on chalk scree; also recently found at Beckley. Very local, distinctly episodic in high numbers, and currently almost entirely restricted to the downs between Slindon and Eastbourne. Double-brooded, flying mainly from late April to early June and again from late June to late August, although adults have been seen in every week from early April to late August. Larvae have been associated with squinancy wort. (Pratt, 2011).
