A resident species usually occurring sparingly or fairly commonly at mv light in a wide range of habitats but it is sometimes common and occasionally even very common by day on the downs, along some parts of the coast, and at Beckley. Well distributed on the chalk and along parts of the coast, but colonies are scarce in the north. Very local in high numbers, and in decline. Double-brooded, flying mainly from late April to mid May and again, more numerously, from late June to the second week of September, although adults have been recorded in every week from the second week of April to mid September. Larvae feed on ribwort plantain. (Pratt, 2011).
