A resident species in decline, often common especially on the Downs and along the coast. Widespread but extremely local. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late June to early August. The larval food plant is unrecorded here, but elsewhere is stated as clovers, vetches and trefoils. (Pratt, 2011)
