The first good West Sussex encounter concerns 11 specimens collected from Tilgate Forest just prior to 1939. A single larva was identified in the Sussex part of Hog Wood and bred out on August 28th 1957 and an adult was caught in Abbot's Wood on August 28th 1963 with half a dozen more at Plaistow on August 3rd 1969. The only very recent records concern one caught at Plashett Wood on July 28th 2008 and a male to mv light at Ebernoe Common on August 11th 2009. (Pratt, 2011).
