A widespread resident although missing from large areas of the county. It generally occurs singly, although it is occasionally seen sparingly in a wide range of habitats. It is double-brooded, flying mainly from late May to late June, and again from the third week of July to late September. The larvae feed on coltsfoot. (Pratt, 2011).
