A resident species. Larvae are often locally fairly common in scrubby and woodland habitats in West Sussex; presumed extinct in East Sussex since the species was last listed in 1905. Perhaps seriously under recorded in both vice-counties. Double brooded, flying mainly from April to June and again in August. Larvae feed on English elm. (Pratt, 2011)
