The first county record of this Nationally Notable Class B insect and only West Sussex report was made in 1905, when listed as apparently scarce on Clymping Common. Earliest sightings in East Sussex at Camber in 1955, since reported as singletons from Rye Harbour July 1997 and August 1998. Double-brooded elsewhere, flying during June and August. The larval foodplant is not known in this country, although speculated that common mouse-ear serves. (Pratt, 2011).
