A resident species occurring singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but is often common and sometimes very common to mv light in woods near Plaistow and on all heathlands. Well distributed in the far east but much less so elsewhere. High numbers are very local. Single brooded, flying mainly from early June to late August, occasionally from early May or to the second week of September. Larvae feed on heather. (Pratt, 2011)
