A resident species usually occurring sparingly or fairly commonly in a wide range of habitats; sometimes common at mv light along the coast. Very local in numbers and widespread in the south but missing from much of the north. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-June to early September. Larvae feed on common reed and unspecified coarse grasses. (Pratt, 2011)
