A resident species, normally occurring singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but sometimes fairly common in coniferous plantations and on pine-clad heathland. Thinly distributed, but very local in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-March to early June. Larvae feed on Scots pine. (Pratt, 2011)
