A resident species, usually occurring singly or sparingly but sometimes common at mv light on the Downs. Probably well distributed on the chalk where it is local and very irregular in numbers, but only occasional elsewhere. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-June to early August. Larvae feed on the lower stems and roots of grasses. (Pratt, 2011)
