A resident species occurring sparingly at mv light but sometimes common where reeds grow in beds, dykes and ditches. Local and irregular in numbers. Well distributed near the coast from Eastbourne to Camber. Patchy elsewhere in the south, and scarce in the north. Single-brooded flying from late May to mid September. Larvae feed on common reed. (Pratt, 2011)
