A resident species, normally occurring singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but sometimes locally common at mv light in deciduous woods. Very irregular in numbers but generally distributed in large areas. Usually single-brooded flying mainly from early May to mid-August, a second emergence was recorded during late August and early September 2007 at Friston forest. Larvae feed on ash. (Pratt, 2011)
