Suspected rare immigrant, and episodic resident in the east. Not detected since 1947 in the west and 1996 in the east, and presumed extinct as a resident since 1912. Double-brooded, flying mainly from mid-April into May and from mid-July to mid-August. Larvae fed on bramble, oak and silver birch. (Pratt, 2011)
