The earliest record of this Nationally Notable moth was in Lewis in 1859. It was then found in Harting in 1877 where it was commonly found feeding on garments in most houses in the district. The species was also common in Brighton, Guestling and Fernhurst. The last known examples where in Bognor in 1900 and 1902, and there has been no further record. (Pratt, 2011)
