A resident species in decline usually occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of habitats. Sometimes fairly common and occasionally common in woods. Well distributed in the west but recently undetected in wide areas of the east. Very local and episodic in numbers. Chiefly single-brooded flying mainly from mid-June to late July with a sporadic second emergence between mid-September and mid-October. Larvae feed on lichens growing on trees including lines and yew. (Pratt, 2011)
