A resident species occurring singly or sparingly, occasionally fairly common in open woodland. Also commonplace on the vegetated shingle at Rye harbour and the sand-dunes adjacent to Camber. Well distributed in the far east of the county, thinly distributed in the south and rare in the north. Very local and distinctly episodic away from Rye. Double brooded, flying from mid May to early July, then again, more numerously, from late July to early September. Larvae feed on sloe and sea buckthorn. (Pratt 2011)
