A resident species, normally occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in most places, but occasionally fairly common to common in a few suburban gardens and allotments. Well distributed in the south but a little less so further north, it is extremely local and irregular in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late June to late August. Larvae feed on red- and black-currant and gooseberry. (Pratt, 2011)
