A immigrant that is usually seen singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats across the county, although it is occasionally fairly common at mv light. Annual in appearance, in widely varying numbers, since 1976. Increasing. Flies mainly from mid July to late October, although highest numbers occur from mid August to late September. An earlier and much weaker flight sporadically takes place between mid May and early June as in 1938 at Hailsham and in 1992 at Walberton and Laughton. Adults have been seen in every week from mid May to early June and from late June to early November. Larvae have been associated with Knotgrass and Redshank. (Pratt, 2011)
