Resident. Usually occurs sparingly, although it is occasionally common at mv light in a few special deciduous woods. Only patchily distributed, very local, and distinctly irregular in numbers. Single-brooded flying mainly from mid August to the third week of September, occasionally from early August or to early October. Larvae feed on sloe, hawthorn, and oak and occasionally on wayfaring tree. (Pratt, 2011)
