Local
A resident that is a Nationally Notable B moth. It is entirely restricted to within seven miles of the coast and is spreading. It usually occurs singly at mv light, sometimes fairly commonly, preferring vegetated shingle, reedy dykes and marshes. It is single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to late August, sometimes from late May or to early September. The larvae feed inside the stems of common reed and reed sweet-grass but this has still to be confirmed in Sussex. (Pratt, 2011).
