A very local resident that is in danger of extinction in both vice-counties. It generally occurs singly on the Downs but is distinctly episodic in appearance. It is almost entirely restricted to a few colonies on the chalk between Eastbourne and Duncton. It is single-brooded, flying from late May to late July. The larvae are associated with marjoram.
