A resident species only recently known from Rewell Wood and Petworth; presumed extinct in East Sussex since 1933. Single-brooded, flying mainly during August and September in other counties, although this has not yet been confirmed in Sussex. Larvae feed on shoots of beech. (Pratt, 2011).
