A resident species often fairly common and occasionally common at mv light in woods and on heaths, but rare along the coast. Thinly distributed and very local in numbers. In decline. Single brooded, flying mainly from the second week of June to early August, occasionally to the third week of August. Larvae feed on dock and primrose. (Pratt, 2011)
