A resident species in decline, usually appearing sparingly at mv light, but it is sometimes fairly common to common on heaths, along dykes and in marshy places. Very local in any numbers and patchy in distribution, missing from the south-east. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-June to early August. Larvae feed on reeds and various grasses. (Pratt, 2011)
