A resident species which is on the increase; adults are normally only seen singly, occasionally sparingly at mv light but larvae are sometimes common in gardens. Well distributed away from the north-west, but very local and episodic. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to late July. Larvae feed on seed-pods of sweet william and Silene spp. (Pratt, 2011)
