A resident species, usually occurring sparingly or fairly commonly along the coastal strip; it is fairly common to common widely elsewhere in the south, and common to very common at mv light in northern woodlands. Probably generally well distributed. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late February to late May. Larvae feed on oak, sallow, apple, white helleborine and hop. (Pratt, 2011)
