A resident species that normally occurs singly or sparingly at mv light but is sometimes fairly common in a wide range of habitats, especially deciduous woodland. Well distributed, perhaps generally so, but very local in numbers. A single brooded species, flying mainly from mid May to mid August. The larvae feed on aspen, poplar, black poplar and probably on introduced hybrids. (Pratt, 2011)
