A resident species that usually occurs singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of habitats but is sometimes fairly common in deciduous woodland. A widespread distribution. A single brooded species flying at some time between early May to early September. The larvae feed on the leaves of (silver) birch, sallow, hawthorn, pear, apple and plum. (Pratt, 2011)
