An immigrant species normally occurring singly at mv light but is occasionally seen sparingly near the coast. Very irregular in appearance. Arrives mainly between the second week of July and the third week of September. Feral larvae have not been found in Sussex, but elsewhere feed on marigold and sea rocket. (Pratt, 2011)
