Well distributed in the west but recently undetected in wide areas of the east. Very local and episodic in numbers. Chiefly single-brooded flying mainly from mid-June to late July with a sporadic second emergence between mid-September and mid-October. Larvae feed on lichens growing on trees including lines and yew. (Pratt, 2011)
