A declining resident species usually occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of open habitats but is occasionally fairly common or even common by day in a few places on the Downs. Widespread but missing from large areas including the whole of the far east. Single-brooded flying mainly from the second week of May to early August. Larvae feed on milkwort. (Pratt, 2011)
