Resident. Often occurs sparingly, although sometimes it is fairly common in deciduous woods. Missing from central Sussex and along treeless parts of the coast, but well distributed elsewhere. Very local in numbers. In decline. Single-brooded, flying mainly late April to late June, occasionally from late March or to mid July. Larvae feed on oak. (Pratt, 2011)
