A resident species often fairly common and sometimes locally common at mv light in many deciduous woods and it is occasionally very common at Kingspark Wood. Widespread, but perhaps generally distributed and under-recorded. Single-brooded occurring from mid January to late March, less numerously from mid December. Adults have been recorded in every week from late November to early April. Larvae feed on elm, hawthorn, hazel, oak and grey willow. (Pratt, 2011)
