A resident species that occurs singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but is often fairly common and occasionally common at mv light in woods. Probably generally distributed, but high numbers are local and irregular. Single brooded, flying mainly from late July to mid October. The larvae feed on ash and wild privet. (Pratt 2011)
